You will evaluate and critique 1 research article from varying professional journals. The journal
article reviews must involve critiquing and reviewing selected articles on specific assigned
topics. The paper will include a title page, a reference page, body (Summary, Analysis, Personal
Response), and have a 2-page limit. The title page, in-text citations, and the reference page are
NOT included in the word limit. Journal article critiques consist of three parts (separated by APA
formatted headings):
Part 1Summary Paragraph;
Part 2Analysis of Authors Key Points;
Part 3Personal Response.
Please note the articles should be recent (within the last 5 years), and the article topic for each
review must be relevant to the current topic in the chapter readings.
Therefore, the topics for each journal article review are as follows:
Journal Article Review #1 Individualized Education Program
Journal Article Review #2 Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or Communication
Disorders
Journal Article Review #3 Learning Disabilities
Journal Article Review #4 ADHD or Emotional Behavior Disorders
When composing your reviews, practice using graduate professional writing. Do not begin with
“This article is about…” Instead, open the review with a strong thesis statement and summarize
the author’s main points in the first paragraph. Using third person, state your personal reaction to
the article in the final paragraph (This author agrees/disagrees
or “one can see that…”).
Submit this assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the assigned module/week.
