Chapter 9 Portfolio Assignment
My question You are going to implement a portfolio assessment in your
classroom. Describe the key ingredients that you would inlcude by addressing the seven
topics listed on pages 216 and 217.
MY Answer
Portfolio Assignment
I’ll begin by ensuring that students own portfolios by explaining it and expressing
the essence of the ownership of the case and the need for their own evolution of the kinds
of the work they put in their portfolios.
I would also like to decide with my students on what they put in these portfolios
by giving those choices that would help determine what they want to put in their
portfolios. They should then collect their work samples and place them in the shelves that
i prepared for them.
Latter I am to come up with criteria that will help me and my students to judge
the quality of their products. The students will then evaluate their own portfolios products
after every two days where after the student will date his/her product after evaluation and
thus they can monitor their progress each time. This evaluation helps the students
improve their products and modify them. I am also to hold conferences monthly with
each student one by one and discuss the most concerned to the students. Finally I will
encourage parents and show them the importance of port files and ensure they review the
children’s self-evaluation.

This needs much more detail. Also, you are supposed to pretend you are doing this in
your classroom so you need to give more specifics about that, too. What grade is this
for? What subject? Then you can share how the portfolio would be implemented.
Ch. 6 Review of a Test
My Question found your assignment to be very difficult to grade and understand. You
should have shared the test you used instead of typing it into the paper. I was not able to
get a clear picture of what this was all about. I did not ask you to explain the ideas
behind these kinds of test questions. I asked you to critique them. You needed to use
more than 1 question to fully critique a test and needed to refer to more of the
guidelines.
My Answer
CH. 6 Review of a Test
A selected-response test is a type of test that contains multiple choices, binary
choice or matching questions. Below is a selected-response test containing binary choice,
multiple choice, matching questions. In edition, we are going to review the test using
item writing guidelines learnt in chapter 6. Below are some four questions each of a
different type of selected-response.
1.
The best way to make peanut butter is by applying peanut butter and jelly to two
slices of bread.
a.
True
b.
False
2.
Match the two columns below.
Column A
A)
A person who provides schooling for kids is
B)
A person who enables groups to find solutions
C)
A person who instructs adults in a classroom
D)
A person that performs mysterious tasks that no one understands
Column B
A)
Facilitator
B)
Trainer
C)
Teacher
D)
Meeting organizer
E)
Instructional designer
3.
What is the capital city of Kenya?
a.
Addis Ababa
b.
Nairobi
c.
Arusha
d.
Cape Town
The questions above have adhered to the five general-writing commandments.
They have used simple syntax and vocabulary, are not ambiguous and have not provided
any clues unintentionally. The students will understand what is required of them easily.
The first question is a true/false binary-choice response. It has only two choices to choose
from. It is quick to formulate and grade. However, students have a 50-50 chance of being
correct even if they lack the slightest idea of what the correct answer is.
The second question is a matching test. It has questions and a corresponding
number of correct answers. Unlike binary and multiple choices, the examiner can tap into
a lot of information by only one question. The premises and responses are placed on the
same page and all lists are homogenous. Notably, it has more premises than responses.
The third question is a multiple-choice question with 4 choices. It is a bit difficult
than binary choice. Correct answers are assigned random positions. The probability of
getting a correct response is 0.25. It is still efficient because answers differ in relative and
is therefore is ideal to measure a student’s ability to choose the best answer. The demerit
of this method is that the student is required to identify only one correct answer.

Feedback to Learner
I had some problems fully understanding what you submitted here. You called this a
Language Arts Test” and a “Reading Test.” Those are two different things. The
questions you asked are not language arts-based. They are history based. This is not a
12th grade test in any way shape or form. My second graders learned about when
Columbus came to this country. Also, I don’t fully understand what your numbers are
about. They do not coincide with the guidelines in the text and they are not explained
enough for me to understand. Also, there are phrases that do not make sense to me, such
as ”
There is not judge, and it is not mentally.” I have no idea what you meant by this
statement. It did not translate very well at all.
