Organizational Climate
One of the hallmarks of a businesses success is their willingness to earn maximum return
on their investment while having the ability to create and nurture a well-rounded team concept
within its employees. To better understand this principle our Team investigated the list given by
the search engine Google of the 100 best companies to work for in the world. After reviewing the
list, our Team selected Veterans United Home Loans because of our military affiliation and the
remarkable employee testimony that headlines their official website. For there we found these
words from Alberto Barba, Loan Officer, “Veterans United is more than just a mortgage
company. Veterans United is a family that cares about people.”
Though Mr. Barba’s testimony got our attention, Veterans United Home Loans success
rate is what led us to investigate the company further. And boy did we make a startling discovery
during our investigation. To our amazement, Veterans United’s three company values were
created by their employees; “We are passionate. We deliver results. We enhance lives.” Notice
the keyword or theme of all three components that make up Veterans United Home Loans
values, “We.” In other words, they have managed to create an environment where their
employees do not feel insignificant, no matter their position. Instead, there is a sense of oneness
in their success as well as their failures. With this type of workplace cohesion, who would not
want to come to work and do their best every day.
To better understand the climate of Veterans United Home Loans, our team would like to
offer three testimonies as exhibits A, B, and C to prove their greatness. Exhibit A: Brittany
Gladish who serves as the Training & Development Manager had this to say about Veterans
United Home Loans, “The camaraderie between co-workers and departments is so incredibly
unique to Veterans United, and is what keeps me coming to work every day.” And then there is

more, Exhibit B: Shawn Couter who serves as the Underwriting Team Lead said, “We are all
here for the same purpose: helping veterans. This passion can be felt in everything we do and
from everyone involved.” We know that we have provided a sufficient amount of information
within these testimonies to reinforce the greatness of this company, but we have one finishing
piece of evidence for your consideration. Exhibit C, Justine Farnen who serves as a Loan Officer
had this to say about Veterans United, “I am passionate about helping our nation’s veterans, and I
feel like I get to do that every single day while simultaneously having fun with my co-workers.”
Now most people after hearing those testimonies would be a little skeptical because of
course, they were from people with seniority and critical positions in Veterans United Home
Loans. To that, we say, apparently, but not entirely. Actually, their team concept indoctrination
starts during the application process that they have dubbed, “The Hiring Journey.” According to
Becca Henegar, Web Application Developer, “Veterans United equips and encourages me to be a
better version of myself every day. There is nowhere else like Veterans United!” Now imagine
going to a company’s application section and finding those words along with the photo of the
smiling employee who made such a statement, who would not want to apply? If that is not
enough, imagine this nugget that we discovered concerning Veterans United Home Loans; they
pay well (Glassdoor). You heard that right; they pay well. Veterans United offers a 401K Plan,
vacation and paid time off, and outstanding Health Insurance, though it appears according to
Glassdoor is expensive (Glassdoor). Since earning a living is the primary reason people work,
the mere fact that Veterans United compensates their employees by offering investment packages
and insurance is a bonus and cause to smile all within itself. One thing is for sure; if Veterans
United Home Loans continues to foster such a fun-loving team-oriented atmosphere with

competitive compensation for their employees, they will continue to be one of the top 100
Companies for the foreseeable future.
