It gives me the ethnic background of the differences of black and white men and women and how that effects the numbers of half siblings, age, and level of education of step families. This article explains that often adults with step parents will feel more obligated to their biological family parent than to the step parent. Step parents can build a relationship similar to being a best friend with the step child, but still didnt feel that obligation to help that person in serious situation. It states that seven-in-ten adults who have a step parent are very satisfied with their life (Pew Research Center. (2011)In our text, it describes how there are more mother-step father relationships due to the mother often having custody of the children. That it is more difficult on the children to adjust to a new step-mother, and that girls have a very difficult time due to the bond she has with her father and the loyalty she has to her mother (Berk, L. E. 2013). Our text does not give any statistics about age, race, or income. The influence this would have on the structure of Bronfenbrenners Ecological System for an early childhood boy or girl is his home environment would change, the microsystem. It would be helpful for the children if the new step parent gets involved with the child and the relationships he has with his mesosystem. This new change in the childs life will affect his exosystem because these children will have a change in their life that they cannot participate in, the decision for these children to start a new home with a new parent can cause anxiety and other development issues. If the child has a change in his cultural context or income level it will change his macrosystem due to the socioeconomic status (Jankie695Corolla. 2014). Children who inherit step parents must go through a transition in their life, which is the chronosystem, which can affect the childs behavior for a few years. As an educator, I would support this child by providing a safe, nurturing, encouraging classroom where the child has routines, schedules, jobs, and meaningful interactions. I would encourage the parents to participate in school activities and communicate with them by email, newsletters, conferences, or home visits. Its important for the child, parents, and teacher to communicate so that the child makes a smooth transition to his new family life.ReferencesBerk, L. E. (2013).Child development. (9th ed.).
