Fall 2017: Final Reflection Assignment
There are 4 questions that all need to be answered. This assignment is worth 5% (50
points) of your grade. Your answers should be typed and your own original writing.
You have to submit this to TurnItIn.com on Blackboard as well as submitting a hard copy.
A hard copy of this assignment must be turned in during the final exam period on Monday
Dec. 18.
It is important to remember our final class discussion about the “intellectual challenge” of
GB215 being very individual and unique to each of you. You will each take something
different away from the course and decide how to use it as you go forward from this
semester. This final reflection allows you to talk about how you see all of these different
parts of the course coming together. It also gives you the opportunity to think about and
write down plans of action going forward for the different sections.
For maximum points I expect well thought out and serious answers. If you answer the
questions as if you never took GB215, then your grade will reflect that.

1. (15 points): Review the self-assessment reflection and individual SWOT analysis that
you completed earlier in the semester. Also, review the SMART goals that you
established for yourself as part of this assignment.
a) Discuss how you have utilized what you learned about yourself from this assignment.
Include in your answer any specifics about the progress that you made on your goals.
b) Discuss what your goals are going forward from this semester. Remember to consult the
SMARTER goal chart/slide from Chapter 5 in making these SMARTER goals.
2. (10 points): You need to include pages 7 & 8 from the Networking Exercise that you have
recently completed with this assignment and use it in answering this question. You DO
NOT have to submit pages 7 & 8 to TurnItIn.com.
a) Discuss what you learned about your network from completing this exercise. Include as
part of your answer what your plan of action is with regard to growing your network in
the future. As part of this answer think about and discuss if you have to change your
routines and/or leave your “comfort zone” to follow this plan.
3. (10 points): Think about all of the readings/discussions that we have had this semester.
Develop a personal career action plan by answering the following:
a) How you would identify the career you expect to have as you leave Bentley?
As I am planning to engage in financial services, which sounds like a very tedious job. I would
prefer to work in a company where my future co-workers and boss would embrace and
appreciate the importance of soft skills, as well as diversity.
b) Discuss the next 5 steps in your career management plan starting from today to help you
accomplish this goal. Think about all of the discussions that we had during the semester
as you formulate this action plan. It’s better to think short term in identifying each of
these steps and be as detailed as you can be in discussing each of them.
4. (15 points): You will need strong team and presentation skills for other classes at
Bentley as well as going forward in life.
a) How was your experience this semester in your team? If it was a great experience, what
would you want to bring from it to future teams? If it was not a great experience, then
what would do to make the next one better? What challenges do you think that you would
encounter in making either of these happen?
b) Using your reflection from above outline a plan of action for future group projects that
you anticipate encountering starting next semester. Think of this as a plan that you could
propose to your group in the beginning of the semester as a way to make it a high
performing and successful group. I am looking for specifics about making your group
successful with their processes and also with their presentations. You can also think of
this as a generic plan for any group and/or presentation situation that you encounter
in the future.
Networking exercise
Networking can be defined as “A set of relationships that assist in effectively and efficiently completing one’s tasks and in advancing one’s
career.” Remember that we all need both ‘career development’ type assistance as well as personal or emotional [psycho social] support.
Think about people who you go to for assistance with your career, both for career advice and for emotional support.

the first and most important strength I have is ideation which strengthfinder explain that
I’m different from the others with stronger and more creative Ideation talents and appreciating
originality at the same time. I feel enjoyful with free-thinking experiences such as group
discussing and brainstorming. Also, people with ideation would naturally consider issues from
multiple perspectives. Creativity means thinking outside the box. New ideas and concepts
come easily. The result saying that I am very creative does not match with my current situation,
because sometimes I am stubborn and rules-concentrated. However, I’m very interested in the
outside world, which means I would like to travel around the world to learn about ideas of
different cultures. What’s more, before I apply for college, I was very intrigued in landscape
design, but I eventually decided to come to Bentley and worked on a business major with
consideration of my family decision and career plans. I guess maybe there is a strong sense of
creativity deep in my soul and needs me to dig it out. I do agree that ideation is dominant for
me , because I get bored quickly which strenthfinder suggest me to make some changes in my
work or home life, and play mental games in order to keep me stimulated.
The second strength I have is significance. The strengthfinder explains that People with
strong Significance talents want others to see their worth. I agree with this comment because I
aspire my thoughts and suggestion could be recognized, heard and valued not only by
professors, but also my teammates. This idea is related with self enhancement and self
verificantion which talked about in chapter. If my contributions are viewed as powerful and
significant. I would say my inherent motivation tends to be competent and important. This idea
also encounters with ideation, which I hope the development of my original thoughts would
become a socially recognized contribution.
My three other strengths are harmny, command and woo. Hamony states that I want peace
and try to bring my teammates together. This statement matches with my result on
humanmetrics of flexibility. To be honest, I’m supprised with the first two strenths which are
ideation and significance, because considering with my current roles in my group, I tend to be a
good listener rather than a creative leader. However, this test was taken a year ago, and my
prersepectives gradually changed.
2. My resulte on humanmetrics are introvert 12%, sensing 16%, thinking 12% and perceiveing
9%. After going through the explaination of my personality types in class, both my teammates
and myself found strong similiarity of the ISTP type on me. Even though The result is very
different from the strengths tested before, it provides me with helpful insigts of my current
behavior tendencies. As an ISTP, I prefer to deal with things rationally and logically. At the same
time, I’m not interested in any concepts or theories unless they offer a practical application. My
teammnates agree with the idea that I’m more introverted and quieter than most of the others,
however, I reacted quickly and come up with effective solutions once problems occur in our
group discussion.
In the self assessment tests: what is your preferred conflict handling style, I scored high on
integerating(29/7-35) and compromising(12/3-15). I would interpret that I respect every
member in my team and would not avoid bringing solutions once conflicts happen. If there is an
opposite idea from my teammates, with the suggestions talked babout in chapter 10: Conflict
and negotiation in workplace, I would compromise in order to create possible mutual gains and
save time. In the seond self assessment test : what is your level of emotional intelligence, I
scored full marks on self-motivtion, empathy and social skills. The result match with the
strenthfinder on discussing my enthusiasm in connecting with the society. In the third self
assessment: what it takes to be a leader, my score is74 out of 100, which means even though
my personal stability and productivity is realativlye high, my weak communication and work
quality suggest that I currently have low leadership skills. I do agree with the feedback, because
I realize that recently I have been strruglling with my academic capacity a little and I do need
some more time to handle my personal situation. In the last self assement: Assseing your
flexibility, I scored 128(85-132). This score indeicates that when my expectation is not met, I am
very likely to experience considerable stress. The suggestion I got are very helpful. First, make a
deliberate change in my routines which means I should not allow daily “to- do” list to rule my
life. Second, be willing to accept a lower standard compared to the perfection. Third, take
more risk.
All Five assessments do not have a desire outcome. It is a way to learn about myself, by
gathering the choice I made including values, interests, flexibility and personality type. My
strengths states that I am a person with creativity so that it would not be difficult for me to
improve my flexibility. The result of my poor flexibity is new to me which is an aspect that I
have hardly paid attention to, but makes sense. What I need to work on more is handling my
current struggles of academic capacity effectively and getting back on track.
