Hi..I have posted my answer for a discussion question and the Dr has asked me the following questions could you answer them plz:You appear to be describing both global businesses, but you point out how some of their sustainability measures. Are these companies using a centralized or decentralized structure to align their strategies throughout the organization? How can a company balance people, profit, planet and perfect duty?my answer is below:Business Sustainability EffortsPepsico Local Business Sustainability EffortsPagell and Wu (2017) assert that although Pepsico has branches outside America, it is one of the American?s companies significantly recognized for its efforts in sustainability. It realizes the essentiality of interdependence between the society and itself. Pepsico has consistently continued to expand its goods portfolio of great-tasting, healthier as well as convenient beverages and foods for example in the United States its products are low in calorie and active hydration offering. Pepsico exercises two environmental goals (Pagell & Wu 2017). For instance, it has already achieved its efficiency in the global water-use target of 20 percent per production unit. It has also reduced its products? packaging weight by 350 million pounds. Pepsico has already increased the number of company?s women leaders. Additionally, through its philanthropic arm, it has partnered with other bodies to provide clean water to over three million people in the U. S. Starbucks Global Business Sustainability EffortsStarbucks Corporation is a global coffee company (Brockhaus et al., 2017). Currently, it is the most significant coffeehouse firm internationally. It is heavily involved in many sustainability initiatives. For example, Starbucks involves itself in recycling and reduction of waste (Brockhaus et al., 2017). It recycles items such as milk jugs. This move is made more accessible by working with the local communities of the country of each branch. Energy conservation is another initiative Starbuck practices in an effort towards sustainability. It creates around 80 percent of carbon footprint and therefore it has to conserve energy as well as boost energy efficiency to prevent carbon getting into the air and causing climate change. Water conservation in another method of Starbucks?s sustainability initiative (Brockhaus et al., 2017). Starbuck uses a lot of water in making tea and coffee beverages. It has implemented methods to reduce water consumption by around 25 percent. These sustainability efforts are not hypocritical as they serve a strategic purpose to get more customers and favor with the local and international government.
