Mental Health
Mental health refers to the well-being of an individual in emotional, psychological and
social dimensions. It is the human mental health that determines how they think, feel and act, and
such can be related to factors like life experiences and family history among others (Olesen et al.,
2017). The state of mental health today is depreciating globally when compared to the levels that
were recorded in the past. Key findings in America indicate that one out of five adults has a
mental condition, the mental health of the youth is worsening, and more Americans and people
around the globe are given increased chances to access mental health-related services. The 2017
mental health ranking globally, therefore, shows that more people suffer mental health-related
diseases and the trend should be regulated to increase productivity and normality among
individuals.
Mental health as a human problem is studied because it is increasingly depreciating in
families and some of the causes can be prevented. Many experts including the World Health
Organization are concerned with the state of human well-being because several factors are
emerging and often interfere with people’s mental health (Lobbestael et al., 2011). In everyday
life, there are stressors and individuals must identify that they need potentials to do away with
the frustrations so that they can still work productively and contribute to communal
development. Life has challenges that sometimes cannot be avoided, and when the mental health
is not stabilized, people may end up not living their lives to the fullest, and some may opt to die
(Sawyer, 2001). Mental health is, therefore, a sensitive topic that must be monitored using
relevant data to show how its state is moving across years.
