You are free to use additional, legitimate outside sources for the paper, but you must use at least 5 course readings as sources as well. Ideally looking for an experienced public school teacher to write this paper. Please don’t bid if you cannot do it or are unfamiliar with this topic. Thank you.

Going forward Assignment – Due Dec 18, 2017 10:00 am EST
This assignment asks you to synthesize your readings on inclusive education in this course.
You will write a narrative reflection (7- 8 pages) on your evolving thinking about inclusive
education and inclusive pedagogy. Your paper must include the following elements, each of
which will carry equal weight.
a) Defining what inclusive education means for you, using relevant citations from course
readings (I will provide them) to explain your thinking. What implications does this
definition have for your everyday practice as a math teacher?
b) How has your thinking shifted or evolved over the course of the semester in comparison
to your initial position on inclusive education? Discuss these changes in the light of the
readings and course experiences you have had this semester (I will attach old assignments
and readings for reference).
c) Where will you begin when you consider your commitment to inclusive education? What
will be your immediate priorities? (Im an aspiring math teacher who will do a student
teaching internship next Fall, so please write from the perspective of an aspiring math
teacher).
d) Focus the paper on the following topics:
–
Inclusive education definition is in the readings
–
Differentiation of instruction to accommodate the needs of the various types of
learners in the classroom (do research to learn more if necessary)
–
Universal design for learning (UDL) a type of instruction style to accommodate all
the learners in the classroom including those with special needs (do more research)
and my opinion of it, which is it is the ideal type of instruction
–
How I originally saw disability as something negative but now I see it as merely a
difference and its the teachers duty to accommodate students with those differences
as well as the students without any special differences
–
Societys perception of disabled students and how as a teacher, I intend to give
students a meaningful learning experience whenever they come into the classroom

Relevant Info About Me to Assist with Writing
1) I did a UDL lesson plan on teaching students perimeter of rectangles and triangles by
having them use a ruler to measure the rectangular and triangular surfaces of objects in
the classroom. Also, I had the students draw pictures on unit graph paper and have other
students determine the perimeter of the figure. I used a variety of technological sources
including Dragon NaturallySpeaking (text-to-speech and speech-to-text software), Braille
rulers, computers with a sip-and-puff machine and refreshable Braille display to
accommodate the various type of learners in the classroom.
2) Im a firm believer in inclusive education and will implement UDL in my lesson plans in
my math classroom,
