Background: Black Diamond Sports is looking to expand from the their solely web-based
market to a mobile application. The have seen the success of business that are growing with a
mobile presence and would like to get in before the market is saturated. The company strives to
have the best customer service experience on the web. Their website is setup so, that you have
access to a live representative that can assist you with an array of different tasks. From ordering
online, to technical issues, to returns and exchanges, their site is equipped to handle it all. They
want this functionality to carry over to their mobile presence as well. A customer should receive
the same top-notch support whether they are shopping online or via their mobile app.
To accomplish this the mobile app must be updated regularly, have chat functionality,
and easy to use user interface, and be multipurpose. Teams will be built from the web developers
that created the site. Their knowledge will be needed to make sure that the mobile experience
and the web experience will be as much the same as possible. They are already familiar with the
way that the company works, as it comes to project requests and the procedures and demands of
the task. By keeping things inside the company, the costs can be kept lower and the timeframes
for the project more concise.

The customer experience is at the forefront of satisfaction. The desire is to have the
experience mirror the website to the best of its ability. Graphics can be process intensive on the
device so a disclaimer advising for the best experience connect to WIFI would be an innovative
idea. In the bottom corner of the app screen is where the chat functionality is housed. Tapping
the microphone or chat bubble will enable the customer to chat with the app (i.e. Siri) or text the
representative to get instructions or assistance if they choose.
On the back end of things power user can gather statistics from the app and links to
reviews from the various mobile device stores. This will help immeasurably going forward to
updates and new versions of the app. When mobile operating systems update these
improvements are considered as well in future update to the app allowing it to be living and ever
evolving. As the technology grows the app should grow as well.
As we all know not all mobile networks are created equal. To combat this data will need
to be pulled and synched to the device so that the information is readily available.
