Goals for the Assignment:
1. Assess local your local community to identify available resources for senior
citizens. Resources should address as many of the dimensions of wellness as
possible (social, emotional, spiritual, occupational, environmental, intellectual,
physical, and economical).
2. Determine gaps in services for older adults, if any.
3. Create a manual for the resources in an organized and user-friendly style that
will be a valuable asset for seniors, their families, and healthcare professionals
who work with this population.

Instructions and Requirements:
Each student shall identify the resources available to senior citizens within his/her own
community. For example, if you live in Sandy Springs (city/town), Fulton County
(county), you would research resources within Sandy Springs and north Fulton County.
There may be services available to older adults in several nearby cities (Roswell,
Alpharetta, Milton) and Sandy Springs and those should be included also. Resources
should address as many of the dimensions of wellness as possible (social, emotional,
spiritual, occupational, environmental, intellectual, physical and economical).
The Resource Manual should be organized in a way that is easy to use. Tabbing each
section is recommended. Include as much information as necessary for the resource to
be easily utilized. For example, if you listing assisted living centers, include the name of
the center, address, phone number and email address. If you are listing restaurants
you could say Wendy’s offers free drinks to seniors age 62 and older.
Services and resources vary by community thus you may not have all services within
your local community. Organize, categorize and tab the manual for ease of use. Follow
APA guidelines. Submit your Resource Manual on Blackboard or provide an actual hard
copy to your instructor.
